Dr. Kannan Tinnium brings over 28 years of global R&D experience in power electronics, energy storage, distributed generation, renewables, and smart grids. He currently leads the Energy Storage Center of Excellence at Schneider Electric R&D USA, driving innovation in storage technologies and new chemistries for behind-the-meter applications, including data centers. He also serves as Innovation & Transformation Leader for Schneider’s Data Center Solutions business.
Dr. Tinnium is a DOE peer reviewer for national lab energy storage programs and an industry advisor to the Long Duration Energy Storage Consortium. His prior roles include SVP of R&D at Luminous Power Technologies in India and 17 years at GE Global Research, leading initiatives across power systems and smart grid technologies in the U.S. and India. He also spent four years at Entergy Services Inc., focusing on transmission system innovations.
He chaired the IEEE Power & Energy Society Bangalore Chapter (2014–15) and received its Outstanding Engineer Award in 2020. Dr. Tinnium earned his B.Tech from Osmania University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University.
